Miles leads TCU with 15 points
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 22 TCU fell to No. 7 Texas, 66-60, Friday in the semifinal round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at T-Mobile Center.
The sixth-seeded Horned Frogs (21-12) had chances late to take their first lead of the game, trailing by four points with 5:38 to play and again a minute later with 4:47 on the clock. TCU never got any closer, making one of its last eight shot attempts from the field.
Mike Miles Jr. led TCU with 15 points. A day after making four 3-pointers, the junior guard hit three on six attempts. The Frogs connected on 8-of-19 from 3-point range (42.1 percent) and held the Longhorns (25-8) to just 2-of-14 (14.3 percent). Texas was able to score down low, outscoring TCU in the paint, 42-22.
Chuck O'Bannon Jr. joined Miles in double-figures with 12 points with a 2-of-3 effort from 3-point range.
Damion Baugh scored six points and brought down a career-high 10 rebounds to go with a team-high four assists. Emanuel Miller had eight points and eight rebounds.
The Horned Frogs will find out where they are selected in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday with the NCAA Selection Show starting at 5 p.m. on CBS. TCU is expected to make its first back-to-back trips to the Big Dance in 70 years.
