
Rifle Turns In Quality NCAA Qualifier Score

Zaun leads all shooters in the match
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Despite missing two of their regular shooters, the No. 1- ranked TCU women's rifle team did not miss a beat in posting a team score of 4,745 in the NCAA Qualifier shot at Air Force. Katie Zaun led all shooters with an aggregate score of 1,191.
The Horned Frogs fired six of the top 10 aggregate scores in the match. Julie Johannessen finished second with an aggregate of 1,190 followed by Stephanie Grundsoee (1,189) and Nina Schuett (1,179). Anne White was eighth (1,175) and Mikole Hogan rounded out the top 10 with a 1,174.
In smallbore, all eight shooters finished in the top 12. Zaun matched her career-high with a 593 followed by Johannessen (592) and Grundsoee (590). Contributing to the team score of 2,358 was Nina Schuett's 583. Also serving as a counter was Mikole Hogan who fired a 580.
The Frogs boasted five of the top six air rifle scores in the match and shot a team score of 2,387. Grundsoee led all shooters with a 599 followed by 598s from Zaun and Johannessen. Serving as a counter, White contributed a 592.
Nina Schuett finished fourth in air rifle after shooting a 596. Hogan fired a 594 to place sixth.
TCU will officially be named one of eight teams to advanced to the NCAA Tournament when the selection show airs on NCAA.com at 2 p.m. (CT). It'll mark the Horned Frogs 17th straight appearance in the field of eight. The Championships are slated to take place March 10-11 in Akron, Ohio.
