TCU Sits Sixth After Smallbore

Horned Frogs fire a team-score of 2,338
AKRON, Ohio – The TCU women's rifle team sits sixth after the smallbore portion of the NCAA Championships. The Horned Frogs fired a team score of 2,338 on Friday.
TCU set Julie Johannessen, Stephanie Grundsoee and Katie Zaun to the line in the first smallbore relay. Johannessen led the trio with a score 586 followed closely by Grundsoee (585) and Zaun (584). In relay two, Kristen Hemphill and Abigail Gordon fired identical marks of 583.
Alaska-Fairbanks took home the Smallbore National Championship firing a 2,349. The Nanooks hold a three-point advantage over Ole Miss (2,346) heading into the final day. Rounding out the top five were West Virginia (2,343), Nebraska (2,340) and Kentucky (2,340). Air Force sits seventh with a 2,322 and Murray State is eighth after shooting a 2,322.
Saturday will feature the air rifle discipline. Relay one is slated to begin at 10 a.m. (CT). It will feature the trio of Grundsoee, Johannessen and Zaun. Relay 2 featuring Gordon and Hemphill will get underway at 12:15 (CT). The individual finals will start at 3 p.m. (CT).
