TCU scores 10 two-out runs in the victory
The Rundown
Trailing 3-2 Luke Boyers opened the sixth inning with a base knock. Tre Richardson singled and Austin Davis worked a two out walk to load the bases. Elijah Nunez ripped a bases-clearing double to flip the scoreboard in favor of the Horned Frogs. Two pitches later, Brayden Taylor launched a two-run shot to right for a 7-3 lead.
Four more two out runs came around to score in the seventh. With two on and two out, Anthony Silva's first career hit was a 2-run double for a 9-3 advantage. Davis and Nunez followed with run-scoring hits to make it an 11-3 ballgame
TCU and Vanderbilt traded runs early. The Frogs led 1-0 on a Kurtis Byrne sacrifice fly, but runs for Vanderbilt in the second and third had the Commodores in front 2-1. Richardson tied the game with a two-out double in the fourth. A bases-loaded walk in the sixth gave Vandy the 3-2 lead.
Luke Savage (1-0) took over with two on and two out in the sixth. He finished the game, allowing a run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings to pick up the win in relief. Ryan Vanderhei started for the Frogs and allowed three runs on two hits. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter in five innings of work.
