
TCU Sweeps High Point

FORT WORTH – TCU swept High Point, 3-0, in a nonconference matchup on Tuesday afternoon in Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.
Melanie Parra tallied a team-leading 14 kills and 10 digs for her 11th double-double of the season. Brianna Green also led TCU with six blocks in the win.
The Rundown
The Frogs were in control almost the entirety of the first set. Tied at 4-4, two Melanie Parra aces highlighted a 5-1 scoring run for the Frogs to put them up 9-5. Leading 10-6, kills from Parra, Audrey Nalls and Sarah Sylvester, as well as two aces from Lily Nicholson, continued TCU's momentum and extended the lead to 16-6.
TCU led by eight or more points throughout the remainder of the first set, with a final kill from Sylvester sealing the 25-16 set victory for the Frogs.
Two kills from Jalyn Gibson put the Frogs on the board in the second set. Up 5-3, TCU went on a 9-0 scoring run to take a 14-3 lead, highlighted by two kills apiece from Brianna Green and Nalls. The Frogs continued to cruise through the second set and two Green kills secured the 25-14 second set win.
TCU led by as many as 12 points on two separate occasions and held the Panthers to a -.107 hitting percentage in the second set.
The third set was a closer battle, but TCU never gave up the lead after Sylvester's third kill of the night put the Frogs up 1-0. Green's second service ace of the season gave the Frogs a 9-6 lead to force a High Point timeout, but TCU remained in control out of the timeout with a kill from Nalls.
Leading 22-20, Nicholson won a joust to extend the TCU lead to 23-20, and a final kill from Nalls secured the match sweep for the Horned Frogs.
