TCU wins fourth-straight game by 20 or more points

FORT WORTH - Behind 43 fastbreak points, TCU ran Mississippi Valley State out of Schollmaier Arena on Friday by way of an 86-52 win.

The 43 points via the fastbreak were the most by a TCU team in the eight seasons that Jamie Dixon has been the head coach.

Leading the scoring for the Horned Frogs (4-0) were Emanuel Miller and Jameer Nelson Jr. with 13 each. Miller added a team-high five assists to go with four rebounds and two blocks. Nelson was responsible for five of TCU's 15 steals and added two assists.

The Delta Devils (0-4) held a lead of 11-10, with 11:58 remaining in the first half. A 24-7 TCU run was capped off by a fast break scoring opportunity by Avery Anderson who had one of his four steals and converted the layup on the other end. TCU led 41-26 at halftime.

The Frogs held the Delta Devils to 32.0 percent shooting from the field in the second half and shot 60.7 percent themselves. JaKobe Coles scored all seven of his points in the second half and TCU led by as many as 42 points before winning by 34.

For the game, TCU shot 53.6 percent and held MVSU to 38.5 percent.

The Frogs continue a six-game homestand on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Alcorn State at Schollmaier Arena. The game will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

TCU improved to 6-0 all-time against MVSU.
The Frogs opened the season 4-0 for the first time in three seasons (2021-22).
TCU had 43 fastbreak points, the most for a TCU team under head coach Jamie Dixon (since 2016-17).
The Frogs were 20-of-30 from the free throw line, the most attempts since putting up 38 against UAPB on Nov. 7, 2022.
TCU had a season-low 10 turnovers.

TCU improved to 86-13 against nonconference opponents under Dixon.
Under Dixon, TCU is 72-11 in the months of November and December combined.

Individual Notes

Emanuel Miller tied for the team lead with 13 points, his third-straight game this season in double-digits.
Miller had a team-high five assists. It was the third time in his TCU career to lead the team in assists.
Jameer Nelson Jr. joined Miller in team-high honors with 13 points. His fourth consecutive double-digit scoring effort this season and the 80th of his career.
Micah Peavy had 12 points, his fourth consecutive game in double-digits.
Peavy was 2-of-4 from 3-point range. It was the sixth time in his career he has made a career-high two 3-pointers in a game.
Avery Anderson III had 12 points, his third game in double-digits this season. He also had a season-high four steals.
Ernest Udeh Jr. led TCU in rebounds for the first time with eight.
Trevian Tennyson was 2-of-4 from 3-point range. He has made one 3-pointer in 68 out of 74 games over three seasons.
JaKobe Coles contributed seven points, all in the second half.
Chuck O'Bannon Jr. scored a season-best 10 points.
O'Bannon had six free throws, tying his career-best, shooting 6-of-7 from the line.
