
TCU Falls on the Road to No. 21 Houston

HOUSTON – TCU fell in a road contest at No. 21 Houston, 3-0, on Wednesday night at the Fertitta Center.
Jalyn Gibson and Audrey Nalls each recorded a team-leading nine kills and Sarah Sylvester led the Horned Frogs with six blocks.
The Rundown
Houston jumped out to an early lead and maintained control throughout the beginning of the set. A kill from Lily Nicholson cut the deficit to four points at 12-8, but the Cougars continued to build on their lead. TCU went on a 3-0 scoring run to make the score 18-12, but Houston never let up and won the first set 25-17.
An ace from Nicholson and a Jalyn Gibson kill put TCU up 2-0 to start the second set. Houston and TCU exchanged points throughout the early part of the frame and Nicholson's second kill tied the set up 7-7.
TCU kept it close and after tying the set on a Nalls kill, a block from her and Brianna Green gave TCU a 16-15 advantage. Both teams went back-and-forth, and another Gibson kill tied the set up at 21-21 to force a Houston timeout, but the Cougars went on a 4-1 scoring run to win the second set, 25-22.
TCU got off to a strong start in the third set and Nalls' eighth kill of the match gave the Frogs a 4-3 lead. A huge block from Nalls and Sarah Sylvester extended the Frog lead to 7-5, but the Cougars soon tied it up at 8-8.
Houston led by four points before TCU went on a 3-0 scoring run, highlighted by a block from Gibson and Sylvester, to make it a 18-17 contest. A successful TCU challenge earned Parra a kill and made it a 19-19 set, and another Parra kill tied the set up 20-all. However, the Cougars finished the set on a 5-1 scoring run to win the final set, 25-21.
