
TCU Reverse Sweeps No. 20 Baylor

WACO, Texas – TCU completed the reverse sweep as the Horned Frogs defeated No. 20 Baylor 3-2 on Saturday night in the Ferrell Center.
The Frogs went 2-0 against the No. 20 Bears this weekend, improving to 15-12 overall and 8-8 in the Big 12. It's the first time in program history that TCU has recorded back-to-back Top 25 wins.
The two wins also marks the first time since 2015 that TCU swept the season series against the Bears.
Melanie Parra and Audrey Nalls each tallied a team-leading 16 kills in the five-set victory.
The Rundown
TCU won the match with an incredible comeback late in the fifth set. Trailing 13-10, kills from Jalyn Gibson and Melanie Parra sparked a 4-0 scoring run for the Frogs to take a 14-13 lead. Tied at 14-all, a kill from Gibson put TCU up 15-14 and a final kill from Audrey Nalls secured the 16-14 set five victory and sealed the reverse sweep for the Frogs.
TCU started the match down 2-0, but the Frogs' offense began to shine in the third set as TCU hit .364 in the frame with 21 kills. A kill from Brianna Green put TCU on the board first and the Frogs maintained the lead through the early part of the set until Baylor took an 8-7 lead.
Tied at 16-all, two Baylor attack errors and a kill from Nalls gave TCU the 19-16 lead and forced a Baylor timeout. The Bears came back and tied the set at 20-all, but back-to-back kills from Parra put TCU in front, 22-20. Two final kills from Nalls cemented the third set win, 25-22.
Both teams traded points to begin the fourth set, but TCU began to pull away as a kill from Gibson put TCU up 11-7. Baylor went on a scoring run of its own and tied the set at 12-12, but two kills from Parra gave TCU a 15-13 edge.
TCU led throughout the rest of the set, and a kill from Lily Nicholson gave TCU the 24-22 set point. Baylor came back and tied the set at 24-all, but two Bear attack errors gave TCU the 26-24 set win to force a fifth.
The fifth set went back-and-forth until Baylor began to pull away and lead 7-5. Baylor maintained the lead throughout the fifth and led by as many as four points before TCU began to climb back. Down 11-7, the Frogs outscored Baylor 9-3 to finish the fifth set and earn the reverse sweep.
