Frogs head to Austin for second dual meet of the season
FORT WORTH – TCU is set to hit the road south to Austin on Friday, Oct. 20 for its second dual meet of the season against Texas at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
LAST TIME OUT
TCU is coming off a record-breaking performance against BYU, where the women's side won 238-134 and the men's side followed with a 200-172 victory.
Nina Vadovicova, Ollie Cazaly and Anna Kwong highlighted the meet with impressive performances for the Frogs.
Vadovicova broke two program records and earned NCAA B Cuts in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:00.75 and 2:11.30, respectively. The freshman was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Wednesday for the second time this season.
On boards, Kwong earned zone cuts in all three diving events. She claimed the crown in both the 1 meter and platform. Cazaly took first place and earned zone cuts in both springboard events and finished second on the platform. The Brit was named Big 12 Men's Diver of the Week.
In the pool, Geremia Freri swept his three individual events in the home opener, winning the 200 IM (1:49.30), 400 IM (3:52.44) and 1000 free (9:16.55). Following this performance, Freri received the Big 12 Men's Swimmer of the Week honors.
LAST TIME VS. TEXAS
The Horned Frogs last battled the Longhorns on Oct. 3, 2022, in a regular season dual in Austin. Texas claimed a 187-93 decision.
Luke DiMiceli won the 200 IM and placed third in the 2000 Free to earn 12 points for the Frogs. Freri had a strong showing finishing in the top 10 in the 1000 Free, 200 Free, 200 IM and 400 Free.
On the boards, David Ekdahl earned his first zone cut of the season on the 1 meter, placing second. Kwong secured four points for TCU finishing with a 292.13 and 264.68 in the 1 meter and 3 meter, respectively.
