
TCU Rallies, Reverse Sweeps Oklahoma

The Frogs tallied 22 total blocks in the win
NORMAN, Okla. – TCU rallied and completed the reverse sweep of Oklahoma, 3-2, on the road on Wednesday night at McCasland Field House.
Audrey Nalls (13 kills, 12 digs) and Jalyn Gibson (11 kills, 12 digs) each tallied double-doubles in the win. Additionally, TCU posted 22 total blocks, the most by a Big 12 school in a single match this season and tied for the third-most in program history.
The Rundown
After tying the match at 2-2, TCU struck first in the fifth set off a service error from Oklahoma. The Frogs went on a four-point scoring run, highlighted by two kills from Julia Adams, to lead the Sooners 8-5. Oklahoma responded with a run of its own and led 12-10, but the Frogs would finish things off with an ace from Jalyn Gibson to secure the reverse sweep.
TCU started strong in the first set and an error from the Sooners gave TCU its largest lead of the set at 17-13. However, Oklahoma went on a 6-0 scoring run to take the lead. Tied at 22-all, the Sooners ended the first set on a 3-0 scoring run, winning 25-22.
Back-to-back blocks by Melanie Parra gave TCU an early 2-0 lead in the second set. Highlighted by three consecutive kills by Audrey Nalls, the Frogs went on a 5-0 scoring run to put TCU up 11-6. The Sooners went on their own 5-0 run to tie the contest up at 19. Tied at 23-all, the Sooners recorded an ace and a kill to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
TCU battled hard against Oklahoma in the third set with the score going back-and-forth throughout. In the third set alone, there were 16 tied scores and nine lead changes.
Adams delivered an ace and TCU took the lead at 14-13. The Sooners led 23-21 in the third set, but three straight points by the Frogs gave them the 24-23 lead.
An ace from Taylor Raiola gave TCU the 26-25 edge. Tied at 27-27, Nalls delivered a block and a final kill to win the third set for the Frogs, 29-27.
After trailing for the majority of the fourth set, back-to-back blocks from Gibson and Sarah Sylvester gave TCU its first lead of the set, 17-16. The Sooners pulled within one once again, but a kill from Brianna Green gave TCU the 22-20 edge. A final kill from Adams tied the match up at 2-2 and forced a fifth set.
The defense was on full display as TCU tallied five or more blocks in each of the first four sets. TCU also forced Oklahoma to hit less than .250 in three sets.
Sylvester tallied a team-leading nine blocks while Gibson and Green each posted seven blocks.
