Frogs race to 11 First-Place Finishes
Honolulu, Hawaii: The TCU swim and dive team reigned victorious in eleven events on Friday while collecting nine zone cuts in their first meet of 2023. Both the men's and women's teams finished 2-1 against Hawaii, Air Force and Tulane on Friday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Anna Kwong sweeps the 1-meter and 3-meter boards en route to another impressive performance for the Frogs.
On the boards, Gracie Liang (265.43), Lauren Cey (275.33) and Faith Harms-Zacharias (284.33) all earned Zone Cuts in the 1-meter on the women's side. Alec Hubbard placed second on the 3-meter (356.85) and added a Zone cut on the 1-meter (339.00). Freshman Ollie Cazaly scored Zone cuts on the 1-meter (311.10) and 3-meter (327.68) as well.
In the pool, senior Emma Hultquist set the tone early placing first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.81).
In the men's 100 backstroke, freshman Edgar Cicanci (49.75) and junior Elliott Jones (50.33) went back-to-back finishing in first and second place respectively. Senior Piotr Sadlowski placed first in the 100-yard fly with a time of 49.01. Freshman Peter Horton did more of the same in the 50-yard freestyle touching the wall in 23.31 seconds ahead of the pack.
Olivia Rhodes finished the 50-yard freestyle with a top time of 23.31. In the women's 500-yard freestyle junior Kara Church finished in first place with a time of 5:00.46.
Both men's 200-yard medley relay teams swam first and second. The first-place team of Jones, Wuilliez, Sadlowski and Raphael Paiva Da Lima finished with a time of 1:29.86. The second-place team of Cicanci, Janis Silins, Dusan Babic and Horton touched the wall with a time of 1:31.17.
