
Rifle Heads To UTEP Saturday

Horned Frogs remain No. 1 in the country
FORT WORTH – The No. 1 ranked TCU women's rifle heads to UTEP for its final regular season match of the campaign on Saturday. TCU leads the country in air rifle average and ranks second in smallbore and aggregate average.
The Frogs will be without Stephanie Grundsoee on Saturday as she heads to Jakarta for the ISSF World Cup. Making the trek to El Paso will be Stephanie Allan, Abigail Gordon, Kristen Hemphill, Mikole Hogan, Julie Johannessen, Nina Schuett, Anne White and Katie Zaun.
This season has been a strong one for the Horned Frogs as they have produced eight of the top 11 aggregate scores in program history. The last time out, the Frogs fired a 4,744 to defeat Nebraska.
TCU boasts four of the top eight air rifle shooters in the nation. Sitting fifth nationally, Johannessen (596.96) will be the top shooter on the range Saturday. Hemphill ranks sixth nationally (595.80), while Zaun sits eighth (595.71). Gordon (595) sits just outside the top 10 at No. 13.
In smallbore, the Frogs have four of the top 15 shooters in the nation. Saturday's match will feature Johannessen, who sits second with an average of 592.11 Gordon sits 13th (587.78) and Zaun is 15th (587.14).
UTEP as a team has an aggregate average of 4,758.00. The Miners are led by Jonna Warnken aggregate average of 1,155.13. She paces them in both disciplines (572.00 smallbore; 583.13 air rifle).
The match is slated to begin at 9:45 (CT).
