Frogs score twice in final six minutes
FORT WORTH – Two goals in the final six minutes propelled No. 7 TCU past Minnesota, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Seven Castain and Megan Reilly scored their first goals in a TCU uniform.
The Rundown
The last six minutes proved to be the difference in the contest. Tyler Isgrig delivered a beautiful corner kick that skimmed the top of Seven Castain's head into the top right corner of the net to tie the contest in the 84th minute.
Just two minutes later, TCU took the lead. Megan Reilly snatched a deflected shot and immediately snuck it through traffic into the bottom of the net, giving TCU the 2-1 advantage.
Minnesota opened the scoring in the 48th minute on a low shot off the foot of McKenna Buisman.
TCU continued to pressure the ball offensively and had multiple looks at tying the game. Sarah Melcher had a laser of a turnaround shot in the 51st minute but Minnesota's goalkeeper punched the ball over the net.
Both teams had opportunities to notch another goal, but failed to convert on a penalty kick opportunity. Lauren Kellett made the save on Minnesota's attempt in the 18th minute. TCU's opportunity in the 56th minute went just wide.
