Pham Enters 12th Season
A constant presence under various roles with TCU tennis, Jonathan Pham has been promoted to a full-time role as Director of Tennis Operations for both men's and women's tennis programs.
He was an integral mainstay of the 2022 ITA Division I Men's National Team Indoor Championship team's run in Seattle. Pham was also a constant contributor to the seven Big 12 championship team accolades between 2016-18 and 2021-22, as well as the 2015 NCAA Final Four squad.
Pham works closely on a frequent basis with men's tennis head coach David Roditi, and women's tennis head coach Lee Taylor Walker, to ensure both programs continue to be well prepared and compliant with the demands of successful tennis cultures at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Present for day-to-day operations and organization, he is a vital liaison between the coaches, student-athletes, extended staff, administration and the local tennis community.
His job responsibilities include assistance with travel preparations, confirming compliance with university and NCAA rules, procurement of equipment and supplies for student-athletes and coaches, leading and supervising racket stringing and customization, and support of match-day preparation and amenities.
Previously, Pham held similar duties as operations coordinator for both programs from August 2018 to March 2022. Prior to that, he was a local tournament organizer for several USTA/ITF W25 professional tennis events at the Bayard Friedman Tennis Center from 2016-18, while also serving as a TCU Tennis contractor in racket stringing and customization.
He joined TCU tennis in August 2011 as the men's student manager, heading stringing and customization operations for student-athlete racket as well as supporting match-day prep, breakdown, marketing, filming and analysis of match footage. He began his duties with the women's squad as a part-time operations manager in 2018.
Pham attended TCU from 2009-16 as a Community Scholar Class of 2013 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education. During his years as a student, he was involved with the TCU Tennis on Campus program in multiple roles including president in 2011-13, and was a member of the first team from TCU to advance to the USTA Tennis on Campus National Championship tournament in 2015.
Lee Taylor Walker on Pham:
"Jonny has a been a crucial part of TCU Tennis and we are ecstatic about his promotion. It's hard to find someone that knows the ins and outs of TCU Tennis more than him. His enthusiasm, proactiveness, and personal sacrifice for everything the tennis programs need is what allows our tennis culture to be so strong at TCU. I'm looking forward to building on our friendship and seeing what the future holds for Tennis Tennis."
David Roditi on Pham:
"Jonathan Pham has been a part of this tennis program since I started my first day as a head coach 13 years ago. As far as I'm concerned, we haven't had TCU tennis without Jonathan Pham. He's grown with us. He's grown with the program. He's been a part of this whole process of getting the TCU tennis programs where they are today. He's done everything we have ever asked of him and beyond with the position he's had over the last 13 years. For him to finally be a full-time employee and run the program behind the scenes was something very special not just for him and his family but also for us as coaches. More importantly, friends and supporters of the program who have watched Jonny give his blood sweat and tears to this program, and for him to be full-time is very special and long overdue and we're very excited to have him continue with our program."
