
Trio Picked On Final Day Of MLB Draft

Horned Frogs have five players drafted
FORT WORTH – A trio of TCU baseball players were selected on the final day of the 2022 MLB First Year Player Draft. Marcelo Perez was the day's first selection followed by Austin Krob and Tommy Sacco. TCU had a total of five players drafted.
Perez was the Seattle Mariners first pick of Day 3. An 11th round selection, he was the 336th overall pick. Krob was selected with the 360th overall pick in the 12th round by the San Diego Padres. Sacco was the 433rdoverall selection in the 14th round by the Houston Astros.
Perez was a second-team All-Big 12 performer this past season. He put together a solid year on the mound, posting a 6-3 record in 17 appearances that included nine starts. He fanned 52 in 61 1/3 innings and boasted a 3.23 ERA while limiting opponents to a .216 batting average. Over the course of his career, Perez was 11-5 with six saves and a 3.64 ERA. He fanned 112 batters in 121 career innings.
The Laredo, Texas, native was drafted in 2021 in the 20th round by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Krob made six starts as part of 13 appearances, posting a 2-0 record this past season. He fanned 45 in 31 2/3 innings pitched. Over the last three seasons, Krob is 11-1 with a 3.79 ERA. He has started 22 games as part of 36 appearances and racked up 156 strikeouts in 128 1/3 innings pitched.
A first-team All-Big 12 performer this past season, Sacco put together a career year. He led the team with a .355 average, 23 doubles, 14 home runs and 58 RBIs while playing in and starting all 60 games. Over the course of his career, Sacco hit .297 in 134 career games with 41 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and 98 RBIs.
The trio join Riley Cornelio (7th round, Washington) and Caleb Bolden (7th round, Boston) who were drafted on Day 2.
Since Kirk Saarloos' arrival on campus prior to the 2013 season, TCU has had 57 draft picks by 22 different organizations. TCU has produced 22 Top 10 round draft picks.
