TCU stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the first, taking advantage of a pair of Kansas miscues. Luke Boyers' two out single accounted for two of the three runs. Kansas answered with a five spot in the second as it sent 10 men to the plate.
Cam Brown took over in the second and calmed the waters, allowing the Horned Frogs to mount a comeback. For the third straight week, Brown was outstanding in relief, getting the game into the eighth. He allowed a run on four hits in 5 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out six.
The Frogs tied the game at five in the fifth on a Kurtis Byrne bases-loaded single. A Tommy Sacco ground out in the sixth put the Frogs up to stay.
Kansas' fourth error of the game opened the door for a pair of insurance runs in the seventh. Michael Petrie made it a 7-5 game as he reached on the miscue. Sacco added an RBI single for an 8-5 lead.
After Kansas got a run back in the bottom of the seventh, TCU responded with five in the eighth. David Bishop opened the inning with a home run. Boyers blasted a two-run shot to dead center for an 11-6 lead. With two on and two out, Sacco hit a fly ball that got lost in the lights and landed harmlessly in center for a two-run double.
Byrne accounted for the final two runs with a home run in the ninth.
Caleb Bolden tossed a perfect eighth and Austin Krob worked around a two out walk in the ninth to seal the win.
