Horned Frogs win their 10th home match of the season
FORT WORTH – TCU women's tennis (11-11) cruised to victory on Saturday morning, defeating Prairie View A&M, 7-0, in the non conference match at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Jade Otway, Isabel Pascual, and Stevie Kennedy all delivered 2-0 days today. For Otway, it was her team-leading sixth perfect day. The freshman leads the team with 16 overall victories this season.
TCU secured the doubles point, getting wins from the No. 1 and No. 3 pairs in dominant fashion. Otway and Kennedy were strong out of the gates taking the match 6-2, followed by Aleksa Cventican and Alisa Soloveva who also took a 6-2 victory.
In singles play, TCU jumped out to an early lead highlighted by Kennedy's clean sweep on Court 5. Otway and Pascual followed with very strong matches of their own winning in two sets 6-0, 6-1, and 6-2, 6-0. At the No. 2, however, Cveticanin had her hands full after losing the first set 6-2. She battled back by winning the second set 6-4 and the tiebreaker set, 10-7, to win the match. The match of the day occurred on court 1 as Soloveva took her opponent to 3 sets after falling behind early. She took down her Prairie View opponent 12-10 in the third set to finish off the match for the Horned Frogs.
