
TCU Shut Out In Series Opener At Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Opportunities were few and far between for both No. 23 TCU and No. 7 Texas Friday night, but it was the Longhorns that capitalized on theirs for a 2-0 win in the series opener. The Horned Frogs were held to just two hits and three base runners total in the game.
The Rundown
Texas took advantage of a lead-off walk in the fourth to score the game's first run. A base hit followed putting runners on the corners with nobody out. With one out, Silas Ardoin grounded out to give Texas a 1-0 lead.
TCU had its best opportunity to get on the board in the sixth. Garrison Berkley worked a one-out walk and moved to second on an Elijah Nunez base hit. A strikeout and a ground out ended the threat.
The Longhorns picked up an insurance run in the seventh after a lead-off double scored on a Mitchell Daly ground out.
Riley Cornelio (3-2) took the loss after surrendering two runs on three hits in 6+ innings of work. He struck out six and walked five. Luke Savage tossed the final two innings. He allowed a hit, walked two and struck out one.
