
TCU Evens Series; Tops No. 7 Texas 7-5

AUSTIN, Texas – TCU scored six times in the first two innings and held on for the 7-5 victory over No. 7 Texas Saturday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Brayden Taylor homered as part of a two hit game. Caleb Bolden threw 4 2/3 innings out of the bullpen to earn the win.
The Rundown
Elijah Nunez's infield single to lead-off the game set the tone. Brayden Taylor followed with a double and a Gray Rodgers ground out put the Horned Frogs in front 1-0. The first of four hits for Tommy Sacco pushed the lead to two. A dropped fly ball gifted TCU its third run of the inning.
After a solo home run in the first by Texas, TCU responded with another three spot in the second to open up a 6-1 lead. Taylor's sixth home run of the season was a three run shot to right center.
Texas picked up single run in the second and two in the fourth to make it a two run game.
Caleb Bolden (3-0) came on with one out in the fourth and pitched the Frogs into the ninth inning. He finished the night allowing a run on three hits with one strikeout.
TCU picked up a big insurance run in the ninth. Back-to-back two out doubles from Sacco and Kurtis Byrne made it a 7-4 ballgame.
River Ridings took over after a lead-off home run in the ninth. Texas brought the tying run to the plate after a one out walk. Ridings induced an game-ending 5-4-3 double play to record his ninth save of the year. Marcelo Perez made his first career start and allowed four runs on four hits. He walked four and fanned one in the no-decision.
