
TCU Picks Up Road Win At UTA

The Rundown
TCU opened the scoring with two runs in the first. Kurtis Byrne got the Frogs on the board with a base hit. A Luke Boyers sacrifice fly made it a 2-0 ballgame. UTA tied the game on a two out, two run home run in the third.
A Byrne lead-off single in the sixth opened the door to a three run inning and a lead the Frogs would never relinquish. With the bases loaded, Garrison Berkley put the Frogs in front with a sacrifice fly. Bobby Goodloe lined an RBI-single into center and Elijah Nunez beat out a potential double play to make it a 5-2 game.
Two more miscues by the Mavericks led to a pair of runs in the seventh. Boyers drove in his second run of the game as Brayden Taylor crossed ahead of the tag. An errant throw on a Boyers stolen base attempt allowed Porter Brown to score.
Reed Spenrath opened the eighth with a home run. Nunez walked and two wild pitches around a stolen base made it 9-2. Logan Maxwell manufactured the final run of the game in the ninth, with a double, steal of third and scored on an Owen Blackledge sacrifice fly.
Caedmon Parker started and allowed two runs on three hits. He walked four and fanned two in the no-decision. Caleb Bolden (2-0) picked up the win with three shutout innings. He surrendered two hits, walked one and struck out two. Augie Mihlbauer (2 IP, 1 BB, 3 K) and Garrett Wright (1 IP, 3 K) closed out the game.

6 – The TCU bullpen threw six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with two walks and eight strike outs.

With the win, TCU improves to 20-9 overall. TCU will continue its road swing with a three game series at nationally-ranked Texas. The series opener is set for Friday night at 6:30. The contest will be televised on Longhorn Network.
