
TCU Drops Finale To West Virginia

FORT WORTH – A trio of two out runs in the fourth proved to be the difference as West Virginia took the series with a 5-2 win over TCU Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.
Bobby Goodloe drove in both runs for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
For the second straight game TCU found itself in an early hole. The Mountaineers' two runs came courtesy of three straight one out hits. A double play limited the damage to just the two runs.
Brett Walker settled in and retired eight straight, but a two-out double opened the door for the Mountaineers. Four straight batters reached with two outs and three scored as the WVU lead grew to 5-0.
Kurtis Byrne worked a one-out walk in TCU's half of the fourth and scored on a Bobby Goodloe base hit to make it 5-1. In the sixth, Tommy Sacco was hit to open the inning. An errant pick-off throw had Sacco on third with one out. Goodloe grounded out to second to pull the Frogs within three, 5-2.
Walker (3-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits in six innings of work. He walked one and struck out four. Luke Savage threw the final three innings, surrendering just two hits and striking out four.
