Horned Frogs Move to Fifth after Second Round

TCU begins the final round at 8 a.m. on Wednesday
TRINITY, Texas – Junior Gustav Frimodt leads the TCU men's golf team after recording the second-best score of the second round on Tuesday at the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
Under sunny skies and temperatures in the 70's, Frimodt shot a bogey-free round of 2-under 70. Only Oklahoma State's Aman Gupta's score of 4-under 68 was better. Frimodt is tied for 13th place with a score of even-par 144. Among the highlights were two chip-ins for birdie and a 50-foot putt to save par.
Sophomore Brandon Massey was six strokes better in the second round than the first. He made five birdies, including a stretch where he made three over four holes, and shot 1-under 71. Massey is tied for 20th place at 4-over 148.
Massey was one stroke better than fellow Fort Worth native Chris Berzina, who shot 5-over 149 over the two rounds and is tied with Justin Gums for 23rd place.
TCU shot 1-over 289 in the second round and 13-over 589 for the two rounds and is in fifth place. The four teams ranked ahead of the Horned Frogs are all ranked in the top nine nationally.
Texas Tech's Ludvig Adberg leads the individual championship at 5-under 139.
TCU will play the final round of the Big 12 Championship paired with Kansas with the first tee time at 8 a.m. off hole No. 1.
