
TCU Drops Opening Match to KSU

The Big 12 Championship was hosted by TCU
FORT WORTH – No. 8 seed TCU dropped a 4-2 match to No. 9 seed Kansas State on Thursday in the first round of the Big 12 Women's Tennis Championship hosted by TCU.
An early 6-2 win by the No. 1 doubles pair of Alisa Soloveva and Jade Otway set up TCU (12-14) with a chance to grab the doubles point. Following a tiebreaker loss at No. 2, Stevie Kennedy and Aleksa Cveticanin got the tiebreaker win on court three, 7-6 (1).
KSU (10-13) earned an early win on court three in singles to even the score at 1-1. Mercedes Aristegui gave TCU its lone win in singles, 6-4, 6-1, over Florentine Dekkers on court two. Aristegui improved to 8-9 on the season in singles.
The three-hour match ended after the Wildcats grabbed wins at number four, one and five.
