Miles becomes just the fourth TCU player to be named to the second team or better
FORT WORTH – Damion Baugh, Mike Miles and Emanuel Miller were named All-Big 12 Conference on Sunday. The awards were voted on by the league's coaches.
Miles was named All-Big 12 Second Team after averaging 15.1 points, which ranked fifth in the conference and 4.0 assists, which ranked sixth. He was the only player to rank in the top six in both points and assists. The sophomore guard scored 20 or more points six times and twice against two of the best teams in the conference, 26 against Baylor and 26 against Texas Tech. This marked the third postseason award for the Highland Hills, Texas native, who was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team a year ago.
Miles joins Desmond Bane, Vladimir Brodziansky and Kenrich Williams as the only TCU players to ever be named All-Big 12 Second Team or better by the Big 12 coaches. Alex Robinson was named Second Team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press.
Baugh and Miller were named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. Baugh was second on the team in scoring at 10.6 per game and led the Frogs and ranked fifth in the Big 12 with 4.2 assists per game. At Iowa State, Baugh had one of the best stat lines of anyone this season with 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists and seven steals.
Miller was third on the team with 10.5 points per game and averaged a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game, which ranked ninth in the Big 12. He had a season-high 18 points three times, twice against Big 12 opponents.
TCU will next be in action when it opens play in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship in Kansas City, Mo., against Texas on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. on ESPN2.
