TCU will play No. 25 Iowa in the championship game on Saturday at 6 p.m.

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Mike Miles Jr. scored 23 points off the bench to lead the TCU men's basketball team over Cal, 59-48, its first game of the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla.

The junior guard, who had missed the previous two games with a left foot injury, scored 17 of his 23 in the second half. Miles shot 9-of-22 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

TCU (4-1) took its first lead of the game on a Micah Peavy jumper four minutes into the game. The junior forward finished eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. The Horned Frogs never trailed again and led 27-21 at the half after Rondel Walker made a layup at the buzzer.

TCU's lead stayed around a 10-point margin throughout the second half. The lead grew to as many as 14 after a pair of Shahada Wells free throws with five minutes to go to make the score 54-40. The Frogs shot 46.4 percent in the second half after shooting just 31.1 percent in the first. Call fell to 0-6 on the season.

TCU will face No. 25 Iowa on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the championship game of the Emerald Coast Classic. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

Team Notes

TCU improved to 1-2 all-time against Cal.
TCU improved to 12-2 under head coach Jamie Dixon in mid-season tournaments and 23-11 in neutral site games.
TCU improved to 73-12 against nonconference teams under Dixon.
TCU's starting lineup consisted of Chuck O'Bannon, JaKobe Coles, Xavier Cork, Rondel Walker and Shahada Wells. It was TCU's fifth different starting lineup in as many games this season.
TCU committed a season-low seven turnovers.
TCU forced a season-high 19 turnovers.
TCU out-rebounded Cal, 34-32. The Frogs improved to 104-35 when out-rebounding their opponent under Dixon.

Individual Notes

Mike Miles Jr. scored a game-high 23 points. It was his second 20-point performance in three games played this season. Miles missed the last two games with a left foot injury.
It was the eighth-straight game that Miles scored in double figures.
Miles led the team in scoring for the 28th game of his career and second straight this season in games which he's played in.
It was Miles' 14th career game with 20 or more points.
Micah Peavy led the team with a season-high nine rebounds. It was his fourth time leading TCU in rebounds in his career.
Rondel Walker was 2-for-4 from 3-point range to lead the Frogs in makes from three.
JaKobe Coles earned his first start as a Horned Frog.
TCU was without its second-leading scorer, Emanuel Miller, due to a back injury.
