Horned Frogs remain undefeated, win thriller in Waco
The Horned Frogs are 11-0 for the fourth time in their history and first since 2010, when it went 13-0 and won the Rose Bowl. TCU is also the first Big 12 team to be 11-0 since Texas in 2009.
TCU beat Baylor for the seventh time in eight years, including four straight wins in Waco.
With the Horned Frogs trailing 28-26, Max Duggan led a 9-play, 46-yard drive with no timeouts to set the stage for Kell's winning kick. The series began at the TCU 31 with 1:34 remaining. Consecutive completions of 19 yards to Taye Barber and 9 yards to Savion Williams as well as a 12-yard keeper by Duggan keyed the drive.
TCU trailed 28-20 when Duggan engineered a 90-yard drive in 11 plays to close within 28-26 on an Emari Demercado 3-yard run. The Horned Frogs then forced a Baylor 3-and-out to set the stage for their winning drive.
Duggan completed 24-of-35 passes for 327 yards while leading TCU in rushing with 50 yards on eight carries, including a 7-yard touchdown. Barber had a team-best five receptions for 108 yards, his second 100-yard game of the season and fourth of his career.
Baylor was on top 7-0 and 14-7 with TCU evening the game each time. The Bears threatened to take a lead into the locker room at the half, driving to the TCU 11 in the final seconds. However, Bud Clark's team-best fourth interception of the season in the TCU end zone kept it a 14-14 game at the half.
Two straight Duggan completions to Gunnar Henderson gave TCU its first lead of the game. A 20-yard completion put the ball at the Baylor 26. On the next snap, Duggan found an open Henderson in the end zone to make it a 20-14 TCU advantage with 5:34 left in the third quarter.
