Gordon has career-day on the range
MEMPHIS – TCU's No. 1-ranked women's rifle team rolled past Memphis, posting a team score of 4,722. Abigail Gordon was the match's top shooter, firing a 593 in smallbore and boasting a career-high 599 in air rifle. Her aggregate total of 1,192 matches her previous career high.
TCU turned in five of the top 7 aggregate marks. Kristen Hemphill finished third with an 1,179 aggregate, followed by Stephanie Allan (1,177), Nina Schuett (1,174). Mikole Hogan rounded out TCU's shooters with a 1,168 aggregate.
In smallbore, the Horned Frogs fired a team score of 2,342. Gordon dominated the field with a 593, her third straight match firing a score in the 590s. Allan and Schuett shot identical marks of 584, while Hemphill and Hogan each shot a 581.
Four Horned Frogs eclipsed the 590-mark in air rifle. Gordon's career-high paced the field. Hemphill fired a 598 followed by Allan's 593 and Schuett's 590. Hogan finished the match with a score of 587.
TCU will take a three week break as four team members (Stephanie Grundsoee, Julie Johannessen, Anne White and Katie Zaun) take part in the Pistol and Air Rifle World Championships being held in Cairo, Egypt. TCU will next shoot at Ohio State on Oct. 29.
