
Horned Frogs Dominate Doubleheader in Dover

DOVER, Del. – The No. 1 TCU Horned Frogs clinched two wins in Thursday's doubleheader against Delaware State and UT Martin.
TCU led the day off with a 12-8 victory over the host team, Delaware State. The Frogs jumped out to an early lead with a 4-1 victory in Fences. Freshman Ally Manoog led the Frogs with a score of 80, defeating her opponent by six points. Sydney Berube followed up with a 79 to beat her opponent by four points. Ashleigh Scully and Isabella Baxter also posted wins for TCU.
Action shifted to the Western Arena where TCU increased their lead in the Reining event. Led by a MOP performance from junior Jessica McAllister, the Frogs added another three points to the lead. Mattie Dukes defeated her opponent, 70-69, while Giorgia Medows bested her opponent, 67-65.
With a 7-3 lead going into the Flat, the Frogs continued their strong rides, winning the event, 3-2. Newcomer Victoria Zahorik earned the high score for TCU with an 87 and a 13-point spread. Graduate student Wynne Weatherly picked up her first win of the season with an 81. Junior Ashleigh Scully's 83 held as the final point of the event.
The Horned Frogs closed the meet by adding two more points to the tally in the Horsemanship event. Junior Shea Graham extended her win streak, defeating her opponent 75.5-73 and picking up the MOP honor for the event. Jessica McAllister also turned in a dominating performance, besting her opponent by 5.5 (73.5-68).
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL
After a short break, the Frogs were back in the arena facing No. 10 UT Martin.
On the Flat, the Frogs posted two rides with scores over 90. Sophomore Laurel Smith led off the event with a score of 91, which would hold for the win and a seven-point spread. Wynne Weatherly would go 2-0 on the day, after besting her opponent, 91-90.
Horsemanship commenced in the Western Arena and saw Mattie Dukes ride to a score of 76.5 to her opponent's 75.5. This score would hold and earn the Frogs the first point in the event. Giorgia Medows picked up the second point and the MOP honor defeating her opponent, 77-73.5. Jessica McAllister posted a strong score of 74.5 which resulted in a tie. The Frogs took the event with a final score of 2-1.
Shifting back to the Jumping Seat Arena, TCU secured the meet win with a 3-1 victory in the Fences event. Ashleigh Scully led off the event with an 84 which would earn her the win and the MOP honor for the event. Sydney Berube and Isabella Baxter would each end the day 2-0 with scores of 83 and 81, respectively.
The Reining squad finished with strong rides to push the event score 2-2. Giorgia Medows earned her second MOP honor of the meet, outriding her opponent, 73-72.5. Jessica McAllister increased her winning streak to 3-0 on the season with a 69.5-65 victory. The Frogs finished the meet with a score of 9-6 to move to 3-0 on the season.
"I am so proud of how well this team competed today in both meets," said Head Jumping Seat Coach Logan Fiorentino. "Delaware State hosted a great day of competition, and we are so appreciative for the opportunity to compete against two very competitive programs. We will enjoy these wins and quickly turn our focus to our meet with Baylor next Friday."

TCU will return to action on Friday, Oct. 21 to open their Big 12 Conference schedule in Waco against Baylor.
