Horned Frogs will begin the second round at 11 a.m. Tuesday

CARROLLTON, Texas – Taking on five of the nation's top 10 teams, the TCU men's golf team stayed close around some of the top teams in the first round of the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational on Monday at Maridoe Golf Club.

The Horned Frogs shot 11-over 299 and is tied for ninth place with No. 9 Texas Tech and is just three strokes out of sixth. No. 7 Oklahoma (+2) leads the tournament.

Newcomer Brent Hamm led the Frogs after shooting even-par 72. The transfer from Troy made five birdies and is tied for eighth. Only seven individuals went under par, led by Liberty's Connor Polender.

Justin Gums made his season debut and shot 3-over 75 and is tied for 26th place.

Jan Schneider and Jacob Skov Olesen are tied for 34^th following rounds of 4-over 76.

TCU will begin the second round at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Golf Channel will provide live coverage from 3-6 p.m.
