TCU Equestrian freshman Ashleigh Scully earned the Outstanding Young Photographer of the Year by the North American Nature Photography Association. Scully has a tremendous body of work in photography, winning the 2017 Wildlife Photographer of the Year for the 11-14 age division.
Scully's photographs have been displayed across the US with pictures hanging from Jackson Hole, Wyo., to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. The Morristown, N.J. native also has pieces displayed internationally in the Natural History Museum in London, England.
"Being recognized as the 2021 Outstanding Young Nature Photographer Award meant the world to me for many reasons, but especially coming from NANPA," Scully said. "My experience in the high school scholarship program back in 2017 allowed me to connect with and learn from so many other young photographers, and I have taken what I've gained from that experience and applied it into my photography now."
The award is given annually to a rising photographer between the ages of 15-30 that shows increasing maturity and develops a commitment to having a positive impact on nature photography, shows an increasing level of quality in the work produces and demonstrates a commitment to increasing their skill set.
