
TCU Evens Series; Clinches Title Share

The Rundown
TCU opened the scoring with four runs in the second. With two runners in scoring position, Gray Rodgers put the Frogs on top with a base hit. Tommy Sacco followed with an RBI double. A wild pitch brought home the third run and Elijah Nunez rounded out the scoring with an RBI-groundout for a 4-0 lead.
The Horned Frogs extended their lead in the fifth on a two out, bases loaded single from Conner Shepherd. But Kansas State would get on the board in the bottom of the frame. Two walks came around to score on a two out hit to make it a 5-2 game. Garrett Wright (1-1) came on to face the tying run and got a strikeout to end the inning.
A three run home run from Porter Brown in the sixth gave the Frogs some breathing room, 8-2.
Kansas State put up four runs in the next two innings to pull within two, 8-6. The Wildcats scored once in the sixth and three times in the seventh.
With the tying runs on in the eighth and one out, Haylen Green took over on the mound. He retired all five batters he faced to pick up his 11th save of the season.
Austin Krob started and allowed two runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked four and struck out six.
Stat of the Game:
10 – TCU clinched a share of the Big 12 regular season title. It's the 10th regular season title under the guidance of head coach Jim Schlossnagle. TCU won 7 regular season titles in the Mountain West (2006-12) and now has claimed three in the Big 12 (2015, 2017).

With the victory, the Horned Frogs improve to 36-15 on the season and 17-6 in Big 12 play. TCU closes out the regular season on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Johnny Ray will get the start for the Horned Frogs. The game will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
