
TCU Earns Hard-Fought Win At WVU

Ridings tallies first career save
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – No. 5 TCU scratched and clawed its way to a 5-3 victory over West Virginia Saturday afternoon in Morgantown. The Horned Frogs took advantage of 11 walks and a pair of Mountaineer miscues to score their runs.
The Rundown
TCU opened the scoring in the fourth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Luke Boyers worked a walk to drive in Hunter Wolfe for a 1-0 lead.
Two more runs crossed the plate in the fifth as the lead grew to 3-0. Elijah Nunez and Zach Humphreys led off the inning with base hits. After a walk to Brayden Taylor loaded the bases, Wolfe worked a walk to drive in the inning's first run. Phillip Sikes reached on a fielder's choice to drive in Humphreys.
West Virginia took advantage of a lead-off walk to score its first run of the game in the sixth.
The teams traded runs in the seventh. Nunez scored on an errant through to center by the catcher and a two out single from Paul McIntosh made it a 4-2 ballgame.
Humphreys scored TCU's final run of the game on a bases-loaded passed ball in the eighth.
A lead-off home run in the eighth was the final tally for West Virginia. With the tying runs on base, River Ridings got a strikeout to end the eighth. He set the side down in order in the ninth to notch his first career save.
Austin Krob (6-0) allowed a run on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three.
