Frogs strand 15 runners on base
FORT WORTH – No. 8 TCU dropped the series finale to Kansas, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. The Horned Frogs had runners on base in all but one inning, but couldn't find the tying run as they stranded 15 runners on base.
The Rundown
TCU opened the scoring in the third inning. Elijah Nunez walked and scored on a two out double off the bat of Zach Humphreys.
Kansas battled back in the fourth and scored a pair of runs on three hits. Anthony Tulimero hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and James Cosentino beat the shift with a ground ball base hit to give the Jayhawks a 2-1 lead.
The Frogs had multiple chances to tie game, getting the tying run to third in four consecutive innings. TCU left the bases loaded in the fourth and fifth.
Charles King (5-2) started and went 3 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs on three hits, walked one and struck out one. River Ridings was outstanding in relief, tossing a career high 3 1/3 innings. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out one. Haylen Green pitched the final two innings, surrendering one hit and striking out three.
