Sikes homers and drives in two
The Rundown
Hunter Wolfe gave TCU a 1-0 lead in the second as he doubled home Gene Wood with the day's first run. Three batters later, Luke Boyers made it 2-0 with an RBI single to center.
After Kansas cut the deficit in half with a solo home run in the third, TCU answered with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Wood singled home Nunez and Zach Humphreys scored on a Wolfe sacrifice fly for a 4-1 lead. Phillip Sikes third home run of the series was the lone tally in the fourth.
Kansas pulled within two, 5-3, in the fifth on a bases-loaded two out single from Maui Ahuna, but a perfectly executed relay from Sikes to Tommy Sacco and on to Brayden Taylor cut the runner down at third to end the inning without any further damage.
TCU got a run back in the bottom of the frame on a Gray Rodgers base hit. Boyers scored in the sixth to push the lead to four, 7-3. Doubles from Wolfe and Sikes in the seventh drove in two more runs for a 9-3 lead. Taylor crossed with the final run in the eighth as he tripled and scored on a passed ball.
