FORT WORTH -- TCU volleyball closed out the 2020-21 season with a strong effort despite the 3-0 loss to No. 5 Texas. The Horned Frogs fought well throughout the match, hitting .250 as a team, but couldn't overcome the Longhorns in front of the largest home crowd of the season.
"First, good luck to Texas as they prep for the NCAA Tournament," head coach Jill Kramer said. "They played very well this weekend and seem primed to compete for the title. I'm proud of our team's effort this weekend. We had the second and third best attack efficiency in the history of our program in matches against Texas. We played physical at the net and competed from the service line. Thank you to all of the fans in attendance today. Schollmaier Arena was rocking! We're looking forward to the home environment it will provide for us for years to come. Go Frogs!"

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 (UT, 25-23): The Longhorns claimed all the momentum in the early goings, jumping in front, 6-1. Both teams traded points as TCU settled into the match but still trailed, 18-13. The tide began to turn when a block by Myers and Raiola capped a 3-0 run to bring the Frogs within two points (18-16) and force a Longhorn timeout. Texas emerged from the timeout and regained a four-point advantage (21-17). TCU showed its resilience, going on a 5-1 run fueled by two kills from Myers, a block from Clark and Raiola and an ace from Georgiades to tie the score, 22-22, leading to yet another Texas Timeout. Texas came away from the timeout and executed well, taking the set, 25-23. Manyang was crucial early in the set and finished with a team-best five kills. Georgiades finished with seven digs, a majority of them coming in the final points.
Set 2 (UT, 25-17): A strong run of serves from Texas late in the set swayed momentum away from TCU as a 11-9 deficit quickly became a 17-10 uphill battle. The Horned Frogs couldn't manage to get within six points for the remainder of play and Texas claimed a two-set advantage. The Frogs were strong offensively, hitting .310 for the set, but Texas found points on the service line and in the blocking game to win the set. Raiola led the Frogs with four kills while Georgiades and Bella Swafford each finished with five digs.
Set 3 (UT, 25-21): Two kills and a block from Manyang snatched momentum for the Frogs as another ace from Georgiades got TCU out of the gates with a 5-1 lead. Texas managed to tie the score at seven and nine before another Horned Frog run put TCU in front, 19-15. But the fun came to an end when Texas found an 8-0 run to take over the set in the final points. McKenzie Nichols spread the ball around well all set as Myers, Clark and Julia Adams each finished with three kills.
