Frogs head back to Arizona
FORT WORTH – TCU will compete at the Thunderbird Classic beginning on Friday at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, Ariz.
TCU will go with the lineup of sophomore Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, sophomore Jacob Skov Olesen, freshman Filippo Celli, sophomore Aymeric Laussot and sophomore Gustav Frimodt. The Horned Frogs will play 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday.
The course is open to spectators and admission is free.

Papago is a golf gem located right in the heart of Phoenix where the borders of Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale meet. It includes views of the Papago Buttes, Camelback Mountain and downtown Phoenix.
LAST TIME OUT
TCU finished in second place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on April 6 in Chandler, Ariz. The Horned Frogs had a score of 37-under 837, their lowest score in two seasons. Freshman Filippo Celli finished tied for second place with a score of 12-under 204, also the best by a Frog in two seasons.
NOTES
- It is the 48th Thunderbird Collegiate. Arizona State has won the tournament the past three times.
- Past winners of the event include TCU's David Schultz (2003) and Bret Guetz (2002). Recent notable champions include Collin Morikawa (Cal, 2007) and Jon Rahm (ASU, 2014, 2015, 2016).
- In seven stroke play tournaments this season, five different golfers have led the Horned Frogs. Celli and Olesen have been the team's top finisher twice.
- Mateo Fernández de Oliveira is ranked 106th in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings.
- Jacob Skov Olesen leads the Frogs with a stroke average of 72.22. He won co-medalist honors at The Prestige on Feb. 17.
- TCU continues to improve its national ranking and currently is 62nd in the latest GolfStat rankings. Typically, teams ranked inside the top 60 will qualify for an NCAA Regional. The Horned Frogs have made 30 consecutive NCAA Regional appearances.
- Earlier this season, TCU defeated then-No. 19-ranked SMU in match play, 4.5-3.5.
- TCU was saddened in November with the sudden passing of longtime volunteer assistant Dana Bellenger. In December, TCU announced the creation of the Dana Bellenger Endowed Scholarship for Men's Golf. Bellenger's initials "DB" will be visible on TCU's hat throughout the season.
- Bill Montigel is in his 41st season at TCU and his 34th season as the head coach of TCU men's golf. Associate Head Coach Adrien Mork is in his fourth season at TCU.
