Sikes records two hits
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back in handing TCU an 11-1 seven inning, run rule loss. Phillip Sikes tallied two of the Horned Frogs three hits in the game.
The Rundown
Texas State immediately jumped in front on a lead-off home run from Will Hollis. With two in scoring position and two outs, a wild pitch allowed both base runners to score for a 3-0 lead.
The Bobcats scored four more times in the second and twice in the third to open up a 9-1 advantage.
The Frogs lone run came in the third inning as Brayden Taylor worked a bases-loaded walk.
Solo runs in the fifth and seventh for Texas State accounted for the final score.
Jacob Meador (1-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits in an inning of work. Drew Hill, Storm Hierholzer, John Kodros and Riley Cornelio also saw time on the mound.
