Nembhard leads TCU with 11 points
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A big second half led Kansas State to a 71-50 win over TCU at the 2021 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Wednesday night at T-Mobile Center.
TCU (12-14) had a balanced scoring attack, led by RJ Nembhard with 11 points. Kansas State (9-19) was led by Nijel Pack's 23 points and was 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.
The Frogs got off to a slow start offensively, making only one of their first eight shots. TCU trailed 15-5 through the first 8:38 of play and then went on a 14-2 run from the 11:02 to 5:23 mark of the first half to take its first lead of the game at 19-17. However, Kansas State closed the first half on a 10-0 run to lead 29-23 at halftime.
KSU continued its run by scoring the first six points of the second half to stretch its lead to 12 at 35-23 with 19:03 to play. The Horned Frog offense struggled to mount a comeback as they made five of their first 18 shot attempts in the first 14 minutes of the second half. The Wildcats stretched their lead to as many as 27 at 61-34 with 6:05 to play.
