HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 (TXST, 25-14): The Bobcats got out to a blistering start in the opening frame, opening up a 20-9 lead. The Horned Frogs battled back to an even 5-5 for the remainder of the set with kills from Manyang, Clark, Nalls and Grayson Schirpik. But the lead proved to be insurmountable.
Set 2 (TXST, 25-22): The Frogs showed flashes in the second set, jumping in front, 9-4, thanks to some strong defense from Dennison and good ball distribution from Heist. But Texas St. rattled off a long run and received a fortunate call on a review to reach 20 first, 18-20, and eventually take the set by three points. Manyang led the team with four kills on just six swings. Kate Georgiades was a perfect 9-9 receiving serves.
Set 3 (TXST, 25-19): Both teams traded points to a 9-9 score line before the bobcats scratched across four straight points. Texas State was able to nurse that lead all the way to the end, claiming its 26th win of the 2020-21 season. Nalls and Schirpik paced the Frogs with four kills each. Alyssa Heist had her best set as a Horned Frog, delivering 10 assists and six digs.
