Senior is third draft pick in program history
FORT WORTH – TCU women's soccer defender Jenna Winebrenner was drafted in the fourth round of the NWSL draft by the KC Current. She was the 41st overall pick. Winebrenner is the third Horned Frog to be drafted joining Ryan Williams (2018) and Yazmeen Ryan (2021).
Winebrenner made an immediate impact on the team after transferring to TCU from Notre Dame this season. She played in and started all 24 games. She ranked second on the team with 2,096 minutes played and was on the field for the entirety of 18 matches. She was instrumental in helping TCU notch a school-record 13 shutouts this season. The Horned Frogs allowed just 14 goals all season. TCU ranked ninth nationally in goals against average (0.56). Offensively, the senior contributed a trio of assists.
She was named a first-team United Soccer Coaches Association All-Midwest Region performer in addition to earning first-team all-conference accolades. She was instrumental in guiding TCU to its first-ever tournament title, earning Tournament Defensive MVP honors.
Ryan was the highest-ever draft pick, going No. 6 to the Portland Thorns in last year's draft. Williams was selected in the fourth round by the NC Courage in 2018.
