Swim & dive competes for second time this season
FORT WORTH – After a strong season opener against UIW, both swimming & diving teams are hoping to continue momentum this weekend. Members of the squad will travel to Miami for the FIU TYR Classic, while others will compete at home against UT Permian Basin.
FIU TYR Classic
Twenty-two Horned Frogs will compete at the FIU TYR Classic, which also features Florida State, Florida Atlantic, Missouri State, Pitt, Lynn and Keiser. The two-day meet will start Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.
UT Permian Basin
The Frogs are set for their second home meet of the season, which starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. The last time these two teams squared off was in 2019 when TCU's women's team won 233-80 and the men's squad won 225-101.
Last Time Out
Both men's and women's teams had stellar performances against UIW, with the men's team winning 165-135 and the women winning 177-123.
On the 1-meter, David Ekdahl broke the school record and notched a Zone cut with a score of 363.97. On the 3-meter, his score of 370.72 puts him third on TCU's all-time records list as he earned his second Zone cut of the day.
Geremia Freri picked up three wins in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 400 IM and Milan Fabian earned a win in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:34.47. Janis Silins won the 100 breaststroke and Piotr Sadlowski won the 100 butterfly. Both were members of the winning 400 medley relay team with Stefan Varga and Noah Cumby as the relay team won with a time of 3:21.68.
On the women's side, Olivia Rhodes won three events as she placed first in the 400 medley relay, the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Emma Hultquist notched two wins against the Cardinals as she won the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle.
Connie Deighton and Faith Harms-Zacharias both notched Zone qualifying scores on the 1-meter. Deighton won the 1-meter with a score of 277.43 and Harms-Zacharias placed second with a total of 267.22.
