Evans Rushes for 113 Yards
Trailing 32-20, the Horned Frogs kept their hopes alive with a goal-line stand with 9:32 remaining. It sparked a 13-play, 99-yard drive capped by a Kendre Miller 2-yard scoring run to pull TCU within 32-27 with 4:23 left. However, the Longhorns were then able to run the clock out.
The Horned Frogs were victimized by three turnovers which led to a trio of Texas field goals.
TCU started fast as JD Spielman returned the opening kickoff 87 yards. Two plays later, Zach Evans took a handoff and broke multiple tackles to score on a 12-yard run to give the Horned Frogs a 7-0 lead just 52 seconds into the game.
Evans finished with 113 yards on 15 carries for his fifth 100-yard effort in the last seven games. He has also reached the end zone in five of the last six contests.
Leading 7-3, TCU pinned Texas at its own 1-yard line after a 62-yard punt by Jordy Sandy. After apparently forcing a 3-and-out, TCU was called for a targeting penalty to give the Longhorns a first down. They eventually drove 99 yards for a 10-7 lead on a 27-yard scoring run by Bijan Robinson.
Spielman's 11-yard touchdown reception with 33 seconds left in the first quarter gave TCU a 14-13 lead. It also extended his streak of a catch to 40 consecutive games, second-longest in the nation and representing every game he's played in his career. The 6-play 75-yard drive was keyed by Max Duggan completions of 22 yards to Quentin Johnston and 23 yards to Taye Barber. Barber's three receptions in the game pushed him over 100 in his career. He's now at 102.
The Horned Frogs took their final lead of the game at 17-16 lead with 7:19 to play in the first half on a 25-yard Griffin Kell field goal. The drive was kept alive by a Duggan 9-yard keeper on a 4th-and-1 from the Texas 24. The Longhorns went on to take a 23-17 lead at the half.
Kell's second field goal of the game, a 36-yard effort, pulled TCU within 26-20 with 3:45 left in the third quarter.

After opening the season with four straight home games for only the second time in its history, TCU will hit the road for the first time in 2021 when it travels to Texas Tech next Saturday for a 6 p.m. game on ESPN.
