Reese's Senior Bowl is the nation's most prestigious college all-star game
MOBILE, Ala. -- TCU wide receiver JD Spielman and linebacker Garret Wallow have been named to the watch list for the Reese's Senior Bowl, the nation's most prestigious college all-star game.
The 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 30 in Mobile, Ala.
Spielman arrived at TCU last month after transferring from Nebraska. A three-time All-Big Ten selection, he led the Cornhuskers last season with 49 receptions for a career-high 898 yards and five touchdowns. He is the only player in Nebraska history with three 800-yard receiving season, recording 170 receptions during his time in Lincoln. He also totaled a team-best 1,038 all-purpose yards in 2019, including a 76-yard punt return for a touchdown. He has two punt return scores in his career. The Minneapolis, Minn., native is one of just three players all-time at Nebraska with a return touchdown, punt or kickoff, in three consecutive seasons.
Wallow is a Preseason All-American and also named to watch lists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, Bednarik Award, Butkus Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Wuerffel Trophy. He was first-team All-Big 12 and honorable-mention Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year last season. He was also an honorable-mention All-American by Phil Steele.
A senior from New Orleans, Wallow led TCU and the Big 12 with 125 tackles, including 18 for loss with 3.5 sacks. The 125 stops, more than double the next-closest Horned Frog (Trevon Moehrig, 62), ranked fourth in a season under Head Coach Gary Patterson. Wallow tied for ninth nationally in both tackles (10.4) and TFLs (1.5) per game.
