NCAA Pathway Program
INDIANAPOLIS -- TCU Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance Ike Ukaegbu has been selected as one of 20 participants nationally, and just 10 on the Division I level, for the NCAA's 2020-21 Pathway Program.
The NCAA Pathway Program prepares senior-level administrators to attain positions as directors of athletics or conference commissioners. The participants are selected for the program by the NCAA Leadership Development Office in partnership with the Board of Governors Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity and Equity.
Ukaegbu is in his seventh year at TCU. In addition to overseeing all areas of compliance for the department's 21 sports, Ukaegbu is also the sport administrator for the Horned Frogs' swimming and diving program. Additionally, he is a member of TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jeremiah Donati's Executive Team.
Before arriving at TCU, Ukaegbu served as associate athletics director for compliance and student services at VCU. He was also the sport administrator for the Rams' women's soccer program. Prior to VCU, he held full-time compliance positions at Boise State, Cal State Fullerton and American University. Overall, he has worked 13 years in athletics compliance.
Ukaegbu has served on numerous institutional, conference and national committees and organizations, including the NCAA Eligibility Center Division I External Advisory Group, the National Association for Athletics Compliance Thought Leaders Group, the NAAC Convention Committee, in which he chaired the Networking Subcommittee, and the TCU Campus Crisis Response Team. He also represented the NCAA Division I membership on the NCAA Eligibility Center Vice President Search Committee in Fall 2016.
Throughout the yearlong Pathway Program, participants engage in a series of experiential learning opportunities focused on advancing them to the top role in an athletics department or conference, while building their skills to thrive in their current duties. This includes a focus on the ever-evolving intercollegiate athletics landscape shaped by recent prominent developments in society. The active learning curriculum features a diverse mix of case study assignments, higher education and athletics leadership engagement, exploration of culture development and insight into hiring practices and interview preparation.
