TCU's All-Big 12 place-kicker recognized by the National Football Foundation for his work in the classroom
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former TCU place-kicker Jonathan Song has received a pair of academic awards from the National Football Foundation.
A first-team All-Big 12 selection and Lou Groza Award semifinalist in 2019, Song was named to the NFF's Hampshire Honor Society as well as being tabbed by the NFF's Gridiron Club of Dallas as TCU's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Song earned his TCU degree in entrepreneurial management and played the 2019 campaign as a graduate student. He was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 recipient.
Song concluded his career ranking first in TCU history in field-goal percentage at 90.9 (40-of-44). He placed fourth nationally last season at 95.8 after making 23-of-24 attempts. The 23 field goals tied for second-most in a season by a Horned Frog. He closed his career with 69 consecutive PATs made, the fourth-longest streak in TCU history.
A Fort Worth native, Song set a career high with five field goals against Arkansas-Pine Bluff to earn Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The five field goals were one shy of the TCU and Big 12 single-game record of six held by his former teammate Jaden Oberkrom. Song had four field goals in the 33-31 win at Texas Tech.
