Maxted represented Great Britain in 2019 Junior Davis Cup and European Junior Championships
FORT WORTH – TCU men's tennis has signed one of the top junior tennis players in Great Britain, Lui Maxted, to the 2021-22 roster. Maxted will become the third Horned Frog to hail from Great Britain next season, joining Alastair Gray (England) and Jake Fearnley (Scotland).
Maxted has proven himself to be one of the top juniors in Great Britain. After being ranked as the top 14U junior in the Great Britain, Maxted has continued his progression, earning himself a place on the 2019 16U Junior Davis Cup team. He was the youngest player on the squad, at 15 years old, that would finish sixth in the world, thanks to strong doubles play from Maxted, back in February of 2019. He followed that performance with a doubles runner-up trophy from the 2019 16U European Championships.
Maxted is lauded for his one-handed backhand and versatile playing style on a variety of surfaces. His technical skills and shot making prowess has given him strong results on clay while he has also proven himself to be a dangerous player on grass and hard court as well, earning a coveted slot in the junior Wimbledon Championships qualifying tournament, playing both singles and doubles, in 2019.
He is currently ranked as the No. 5 junior player (18U) in Great Britain as a 17-year-old and holds a career-best rank of No. 87 in the ITF junior rankings prior to the COVID-19 pandemic halting play earlier this year.
