HOCKLEY, Texas – In its only match of the day, No. 4 seed TCU defeated No. 9 seed Iowa State, 4-2-0, Saturday at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.
Sophomore Gustav Frimodt improved to 2-0-1 on the weekend after defeating Brock Barnhart, 3&2. Other Horned Frogs to win their match Saturday were sophomores Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, Aymeric Laussot and Jacob Skov Olesen.
With the win, TCU earned three more points to tie Oklahoma with six. Both teams are tied for second in Pool A and trail Baylor by three points.
The Frogs will play the No. 1-seeded Sooners at 8 a.m. The team with the most points in Pool A will play the point leader in Pool B for the championship Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The second-place team in Pool A will face the second-place team in Pool B and so on.
