TCU beings the second round at 8 a.m. Monday
CARROLLTON, Texas – Constant winds did not make play easy for the TCU men's golf team in the first round of the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational Sunday.
Maridoe Golf Club is tough enough as it is, adding winds around 20 MPH, made play more challenging for the talented field that includes 10 top 25 teams. Only five players went under par and most rounds took six hours to play.
Junior Justin Gums made led the Frogs in his season debut. He shot 6-over 78 and is tied for 33rd place. From there, each Horned Frog finished one stroke behind the other. Senior Spencer Ball shot 7-over 79 and is tied for 41st.
As a team, TCU is in 11th place at 32-over 320. No. 10 Baylor leads the 12-team field at 11-over 299.
TCU will begin the second round at 8 a.m. on hole No. 1.
