TCU's defense limits Jayhawks to just 159 total yards on the day
TCU jumped out to a 38-0 halftime lead and never looked back. The Horned Frogs defense allowed just 159 total yards, the lowest offensive output from an opponent since the Jayhawks had 21 on their last visit to Fort Worth in 2017.
Offensively, TCU (3-1, 1-0) finished the game with 625 yards, netting 306 yards through the air and 319 on the ground. The Horned Frogs have posted at least 200 rushing yards in all four games this season and 300-plus in two of their last three games. This marks the first time since 2015 that TCU has topped 200 yards rushing in at least four straight games.
Six different players accounted for TCU's first five touchdowns on the day, including Max Duggan tossing a pair of TDs. Jalen Reagor got in on the action taking a punt return to the house for the first time in his career, and all of this happened in just the first 15 minutes of the game.
Darius Anderson and Sewo Olonilua both scored rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, and Jonathan Song added a late field goal to give the home team a 38-0 lead at the half.
The 38-0 advantage marked the largest halftime lead for the Horned Frogs since a 35-0 score against Jackson State in the 2017 season opener. The 38 first-half points is tied for the most points scored in a half against a Big 12 opponent (Baylor, 2016).
Both of Duggan's first-half touchdown passes came on third-down plays as TCU managed to go 10-for-10 on third-down attempts through the first two quarters. TCU would go on to convert 14-of-19 third-down attempts for the day.
TCU's final points were scored by Mike Collins on an 11-yard run as time expired to give TCU 50-plus points for the first time since last season's opener against Southern (55-7). It is the first 50-point effort against a Big 12 opponent since 2016 at Baylor (62-22).
Anderson, who finished the game with 118 yards on the ground, became the first TCU player since Lonta Hobbs in 2002 to eclipse the 100-yard mark in three straight games.
