- In the SMU game, Max Duggan (Council Bluffs, Iowa) became just the second true freshman and third non-Texan to start at quarterback in the 19-season head coaching era of Gary Patterson. Duggan completed 15-of-26 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns in the second half.
